We will analyze an argument writing piece in order to find the claim, evidence, counterclaim, rebuttal, and call to action. This is a handout activity.
In social studies we will continue to learn about the role of the pharaoh and a few of Egypt's greatest leaders and monumental architecture such as the pyramids, obelisks, and Abu Simbel. We will also work on the Nile songs. Submit a link to the song on YouTube via the social studies classroom page.
SWBAT
Identify the claim, evidence, and counterclaim in an argument essay.
Use commas for quotes and clarity.
Use the answer method to make sense of a MCAS passage and questions
Model good public speaking and listening
Explain the responsibilities of the pharaoh
Identify class monumental architecture in ancient Egypt
Explain the key accomplishments of Khufu, Ramses II, and Hatshepshut
Explain the importance of the Nile River to the people of ancient Egypt.
Explain the importance of the Rosetta Stone to the decipherment of Egyptian writing.
Explain the importance of the Egyptian belief in an afterlife and how these beliefs impacted life.
